How Speed is Measured

Internet speeds are usually measured by Mbps, this is megabytes per second.

The average internet speed for homes in the UK is currently at 70mbps, when shared out between 3-4 families, this is usually around 15-20Mbps each.

The average speed of internet in business premises in the UK is at a much lower 20mbps, when shared out between a workforce, this often means that internet is slow for both employees and customers.

Recommended Speeds for Different Businesses

Offices: In offices with 20-30 people, the speed should be at least 500mbps.

Hotels: This varies on the size of hotel but for a small hotel this should be at least 200mbs, for larger hotels our recommendation is 1000mbps

Retail: We recommend that due to customers using internet in the premises, and staff needing internet for IT systems a network running at least 250mbps.

Hospitality: Due to having 30-40 people in hospitality venues at one time, we recommend a minimum of 500mbps.
